Argentina: Navy seeks alternate resources in search for missing submarine

"Alternatives are being looked into" in the search for missing submarine ARA San Juan, stated Argentine Navy spokesperson Enrique Balbi during a press conference in Buenos Aires on Monday.
The Navy is considering five different companies to join in the search effort in the event that foreign aid is retracted. Seven countries are currently offering support to the Argentine navy.
Commenting on what could have happened to the ARA San Juan, Balbi said that the vessel may have come to rest on the seabed following an explosion, but that undersea canyons could be hampering the search. The Russian ship Yantar has begun the task of sweeping the canyons with sonar.
