PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 22, 2017) U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II pilots assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, participate in carrier qualifications aboard the USS Essex (LHD-2) during Exercise Dawn Blitz. The scenario-driven amphibious exercise conducted between Expeditionary Strike Group 3 and 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, testing their ability to conduct amphibious operations in response to global crises and to project power ashore as part of a Navy-Marine Corps team. Inside The Simulator Prepping F 35 Lightning II Pilots

Royal Navy and RAF personnel will begin flying a simulator to test the new F-35 Lightning II aircraft ahead of flight trials on the UK’s new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier next year. The simulator, built by BAE systems, tests the skills of pilots as they practice landing on the deck of the new aircraft carrier in a range of difficult sea and weather conditions.
