Russian Navy's guided missile cruiser and flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet, Varyag, docked at Manila's South Harbour for a four-day goodwill visit, Thursday.
SOT Capt. Alexei Ulyanenko, Varyag Commanding Officer and concurrent Task Group Commander (Russian): "I assure you that during our visit, we will do everything to contribute to the strengthening of our friendship and cooperation between our two nations in the interest of security and stability in the region."
In course of the visit of the Pacific Fleet detachment to the Manila port, Commander of the Varyag cruiser Captain II rank Alexei Ulyanenko had a meeting with Commander of the Philippine Navy Francisco Gabuda.
The meeting was held in a friendly manner. The parties exchanged souvenirs with symbols of the Navy of two countries.
Earlier, Ambassador of Russia in the Philippines Igor Khovayev had visited the Russian cruiser. The Russian seamen organized an excursion for military servicemen of the Philippine Navy around the Varyag cruiser.
The visit of the Pacific Fleet detachment will last until April 24.
